This garage in Devizes has come full circle. From originally being a garage, it was transformed into an additional room on the property, before the new owners approached us about reverting it back to a secure garage with new Hormann doors.

Brief

This detached double garage had been blocked up and converted into a room. Impractical for the new homeowners and keen to revert it back to a garage, they contacted us looking for possible options. The primary focus was to maximise opening widths so vehicles could once again be parked inside, and security was important for peace of mind.

Solution

We surveyed the garage, carefully cut test areas to ensure the structural steels were in place to avoid any unexpected complications. It was to be a relatively straight forward project that involved removing the two windows, neatly cutting and removing block-work to reform the openings and clearing the rubble. We then set about installing the two new insulated sectional garage doors which fitted behind the structural openings, maximising clear drive through width for ease of parking vehicles.

Although insulation was not a priority, the strength and durability of the Hörmann double steel-skinned panels of the sectional door and the way it closes vertically within a frame, provided significant security advantages.

Remote operators made life easy with doors opening at the press of a button - negating the need for external handles/locks and further enhancing security.

The final stage was to neatly clad and seal both in externally and internally around the doors to hide the untidy brickwork which had been coated with a blackjack damp sealant. With the garage alteration complete, the customer now has a large garage space to utilise.
