Thruxton Motorsport Centre is a motor-racing circuit located near the village of Thruxton in Hampshire and hosts a range of iconic motorsport events every year. The project took place during the winter months bringing its own challenges, but we got to work and installed a large sectional loading door for the new hospitality area, which of course featured cutting edge automation.
Brief
The brief from the contractor was for a large loading door that would be used to allow vehicles or similar access into the new Thruxton hospitality clubhouse. Externally the design needed to be sleek and compliment the new modern building, especially due to its position on the front elevation of the building. With plastered/painted walls and tiled floors internally, a door that provided a clean and neat finish was of equal importance. Being integral with links into the main building the door needed to be secure and insulated.
Solution
It was excellent timing, Hörmann had just launched their new LPU67 thermo sectional door which was perfect. The new double steel panel with 67mm thick insulated rigid foam core and double seals provided superb insulation with the added benefit of additional sound deadening. Externally the smooth 5 panel L-Ribbed design in grey blends with the overall look of the building’s exterior, while the premium track option (painted finish on all internal tracks and brackets) along with custom fabricated and powder-coated hanging brackets ticked the box for creating an equally sleek finish internally.
The Hörmann sectional door coupled with the Hörmann remote operator makes the door Secured by Design certified as standard, which was yet another plus when specifying the product.
