Glass garage doors are fairly few and far between, but they can have some stunning end results. This was certainly the case at this private estate in Romsey, Hampshire where we installed fully glazed and automated sectional garage doors.
The client has several beautiful oak barn-style buildings on his estate which were open-fronted and exposed to the elements. With a desire to park a collection of prestigious cars inside the brief was for us to come up with secure garage doors that were; low maintenance, sealed to prevent weather ingress, automated for ease of operation and most importantly had garage doors that could do all of this while complimenting the oak building and surrounding environment.
The obvious choice would have been traditional timber garage doors, but with the requirement for low maintenance we set about finding an alternative. After much thought, we proposed the ALR F42 by Hörmann, which despite being an industrial product and not the most obvious choice, turned out perfect for the project.
The sleek grey framework to the door sits well against the weathered silver timber buildings and the large expanse of glass captures the reflection of the surrounding environments which is ever-changing depending upon the angle of approach. When not catching the reflection, you can clearly see through the large expanse of glass showcasing the vehicles inside, which due to the secure and remote location was not to be an issue.
